Change is Local
Dear Friend,
Right now, many of us, across backgrounds and beliefs, are asking the same questions: What can I do? Where can I make a real difference?
There are many paths forward. But one truth holds steady: local action is where change becomes real. It’s where our time, skills, and resources turn into visible results for our families, our neighbors, and the places we care about.
National headlines can feel distant and overwhelming. Local work is different. It’s tangible. It’s practical. It’s where people from all walks of life come together around shared priorities: secure homes, healthy food, working lands and waters, good jobs, and a strong future for the next generation.
I often think back to a campaign from years ago: Think global, act local. It wasn’t just a saying then and it’s not one now. When communities build real, working models, we don’t just talk about solutions, we actually prove them. These proof points create momentum, attract investment, and give decision-makers the confidence to scale what works.
That belief is at the heart of Regenerative California. Our focus is on grounded, place-based work—starting right here in Monterey County. We don’t believe one farm, one housing effort, or one region changes everything on its own. We do believe that when people can see and experience what works it builds trust, confidence, and shared purpose.
When we see progress with our own eyes, we’re more likely to believe in it, support it, and invest in it.
Local action is not small. It’s how lasting change begins and how it endures.
In this first Regenerative California newsletter of 2026, we’re sharing where progress is happening, the practical approaches gaining traction, and the community wisdom guiding the way. This is not rhetoric. It’s our ongoing commitment to help California lead by example—showing what human and environmental health, prosperity, and resilience can look like together.
If you care about the future of Monterey County, we invite you to be part of this work.
