Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust bolsters food assistance and fishing industry with Community Seafood Program

Kudos to our partners at Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust (MBFT) on this 90.3 KAZU - NPR for Monterey, Salinas and Santa Cruz feature about its Monterey Bay Community Seafood Program.

Together with MBFT, we're working to revitalize the fishing economy in Monterey Bay to be recognized as a valuable social, cultural, and economic driver in the region — becoming a model for other areas in California (and beyond). MBFT's Community Seafood Program is a shining example of what's possible when we prioritize providing healthy, sustainably harvested seafood to local families in need of food assistance.

"It's feeding people. It's building community. It's bringing visibility to our local fleet. And building more of a local supply," shared Melissa Mahoney, MBFT's Executive Director.
