Bringing Together Monterey County Voices
Dear Friend,
In 2023, we brought together Monterey County voices—from farmers to fishermen, scientists to businesses and government—to imagine a regenerative future together. Following our interviews, research, and workshops, we developed a community vision for a Regenerative Monterey County:
Monterey is a state-wide model for a regenerative economy that ensures prosperity, health, and resilience for all people and natural ecosystems. We understand the community to be where we work and love, where our people are housed and employed.
Together with the community, we’re proving what a regenerative economy looks like in action—through living laboratories in agriculture, housing, and the blue economy.
Housing: Our Monterey County Attainable Housing Initiative aims to add 3,000 attainable homes by 2030. In November, we’ll host a two-day forum to turn ideas into real projects through collaborative sprints and innovative financing.
Regenerate 68! Farm: On 68 acres at the corner of Highway 68 and River Road, we’re growing the region’s first regenerative organic demonstration farm—featured recently in Marin Magazine.
Future of Blue: In partnership with the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust, we’re working towards revitalizing Monterey’s working waterfronts and advancing a thriving blue economy that sustains both ocean and community.
Monterey is our pilot region, and interest is growing fast—nearly a dozen California counties are ready to join this movement.
We encourage you to read on for more updates about our work at Regenerative California, and to join us – on the farm, at our virtual and in-person events, and online.
In partnership,
Kristin Coates + The Regenerative California Team
